Waku Waku Museum for Kids


Starting this year, “Waku Waku Museum for Kids” will be conducted as an independent educational program organized by MIHO MUSEUM. Museum staff and volunteers will conduct various activities, including “expedition tours” filled with fun quizzes and stories incorporating coloring books and puzzles of artworks. Also, with the cooperation of MIHO MUSEUM’s Friends of the Museum, free bus service will be provided for groups of over fifteen participants from Koka City (limited number of buses available).

Time:  10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon
  Spring schedule:
March 18, 25, April 15, 22, 29, May 20, 27 (all Sundays)
Summer schedule:
    July 15, 22 (Sat.), 29, August 19 (all Sundays, unless otherwise noted)
 
Waku Waku Museum Gallery Tour takes approx. 60 mins.
Waku Waku Booth (coloring books and puzzle activities) takes approx. 30 mins.

Events to take place in the South Wing galleries, Lecture Hall, or basement-floor lobby.
Participants include individuals or groups ranging from five-year-olds to high school students. Families are also encouraged to participate.
Limited thirty children per day.
Please apply to the Education and Information Department of our curatorial office one week in advance.
Participation and entry free for each child and a parent or guardian (up to two).
Only Japanese.

The Children's Atelier
This spring, we started a crafts-making program, “The Children’s Atelier” held on the second Sunday of every month. After viewing the galleries, children of various ages can enjoy expressing themselves by creating their own works of art. Activities using the five senses will be organized for preschoolers. Please contact MIHO MUSEUM for more information.

May 13 (Sun.) Floral Patterns
  -----Making flower-shaped accessories with 3rd and 4th-grade elementary students.
June 10 (Sun.) Enjoying Art with the Five Senses
  -----Expressions through storytelling with preschoolers (aged five and younger)
Aug. 12 (Sun.) Ancient Egyptian Reliefs
    -----Making small reliefs with 5th and 6th-grade elementary students

Kaburimono (Hat) Making Class ─Create fun and simple hats.
