The exhibition, Treasures of Ancient Bactria, opened from April 6 to June 20, 2004 at the Yokkaichi Municipal Museum in Mie Prefecture. Works from the collection of the MIHO MUSEUM have been shown in the past in museums abroad, such as the Metropolitan Museum, however, this exhibition was the first of its kind in Japan. |

The nonprofit organization Shûmei International will sponsor a free special
museum opening for visitors with disability I.D. cards and their attendants
(on a reservation basis). Visitors of this special opening can fully and
leisurely enjoy the spaciousness of the exhibition halls on a normally
closed Monday. Educational workshops will also be available, though the
handling of art objects will not permitted. The restaurant and café will be closed. However, a self-service area for drinks will be open in the café area of the museum. Visitors can also rest in this area. For those needing special care, please come with an attendant. For assistance from the museum, please contact us ahead of time. The Shigaraki Kougen Bus is a purple bonnet bus that runs through the verdure of Shigaraki. This dashing bus, operated by the town, will take you around Shigaraki in a loop-line, starting at the Shigaraki Kougen Railway Station. Perhaps it will remind you of the bus in the most recent Harry Potter movie? The “Tashiro―Hata Junkai” (“Route Around the Fields”) line stops by MIHO MUSEUM twice daily. JR Ishiyama Station is the usual gateway to MIHO MUSEUM, but the scenic route through the town of Shigaraki may be a nice way to leisurely make your way home after your museum visit. | ||||||||||||||||
