 MIHO MUSEUM’s beginnings can be found in the North Wing.
Many of the works here came from the private collection of Mihoko Koyama,
the founder of the museum and the person after whom it was named.
The entire collection is based on her perceptive eye. When Koyama saw an artwork,
she cast aside preconceptions and instantly saw its essential beauty.
Rather than being swayed by external values, she chose a work based on her own sensibility;
hence, she did not collect art systematically.
However, after forty years, her acquisitions grew into an amazing collection that covered a large range of magnificent pieces.
Those who see these works will surely be captivated and moved.
