Special Museum Opening 
     for Disabled Visitors
Tuesday, October 9, 2007
The nonprofit organization Shumei International hosts another special opening for disabled visitors and their attendant (reservations required). The museum will be closed to the general public for those with disabilities to leisurely enjoy the MIHO MUSEUM and participate in educational programs. Although the restaurant and café will be closed, drinks will be available on a self-service basis in these areas, which can also be used for resting.

     Those in need of attendance are asked to come with their attendant. For those requiring special assistance, please call the museum for the various services we offer.

Docent Tours (in Japanese only)
Volunteer docents explain exhibited works in their gallery talks.

Summer Hours
* Second to fifth Sundays from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
(free with admission)
* Docent tours start from different locations weekly, so please inquire at the museum upon your visit.
Autumn Hours (starting September 1)  
* Second to fifth Sundays, twice daily from 1:30 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m.
* Approx. 40-minute tour on the museum’s architecture and through the Egyptian, West Asian, Greek, and Roman galleries.

Every Sunday from 2:00 p.m. during the exhibition season*

We invite our visitors to hear legends and stories of our museum’s artworks. Our volunteer staff uses sounds and images to narrate legends of Egypt, Greece, and China. The approximately 30-minute session brings to life the art of antiquity and opens us to the world of stories. Participation is free.

Waku Waku Museum for Kids
Starting this year, MIHO MUSEUM will independently operate “Waku Waku Museum for Kids” as an educational program for children. The museum and volunteer staff will lead fun “expedition tours” filled with quizzes and stories incorporating coloring books of the museum’s artworks and pastels to draw them. Also, with the cooperation of the Friends of the Museum, a free bus service will be offered for groups of over fifteen participants from Koka City (limited number of buses available).
Time: 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon
Autumn schedule : 
Sept. 16, 23, 30, Oct. 14, 21, 28, Nov. 18, 25, and Dec. 16 (all Sundays)
Program Time :   
Waku Waku Museum Gallery Tour
approx. 60 minutes
Waku Waku Booth (includes coloring book and drawing with pastels)
approx. 30 minutes
Place : 
South Wing galleries, Lecture Hall, ground floor lobby, etc.
Participants : 
Individuals or groups of five-year-olds to high school students. Families are also encouraged to participate.
Capacity : 
Up to thirty children per day (first-come, first-served basis).
Deadline : 
Please apply to the Education and Information Department of our curatorial office at least one week in advance.
Cost : 
Free participation and entry for each child and up to two adults.
