Shigaraki Style Hospitality: Nature, Ceramics, and Tea
For residents of Shigaraki, pottery fairs are some of the earliest scenes from childhood. This ordinary landscape may appear “extraordinary” to those visiting but it is with the idea of finding abundance within this “extraordinary” that the Shigaraki Art Festival, which has been held twice, every three years, has been organized.
This year’s Shigaraki Art Festival showcases traditional and new ceramic works in downtown and local venues under “Shigaraki Style Hospitality: Nature, Ceramics, and Tea.”
The festival will also feature collaborative works integrating local specialties and ceramics to welcome visitors with our Shigaraki hospitality.
Through conversations with our visitors, we hope to create opportunities to discover a new Shigaraki and explore future possibilities based on the long history and tradition of Shigaraki ware.
Seeking shining moments in the lives of those who live on that land and those who visit.
